Our Vision
The mission of the Mauro-Sheridan Physical Education Department is to educate minds and develop healthy and strong bodies, while promoting positive attitudes towards a lifetime of physical activity, fitness and sports skills. We offer activities in a safe environment which meets the physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of all students. Our goal is to develop the following outcomes for our students as a result of their involvement in our program:
- Personal wellness
- Problem solving skills (independently and cooperatively)
- Social skills
- Character development (emotional control, fair play, sportsmanship, team spirit)
- Skills necessary to perform a variety of physical activities and knowledge of the benefits when involved in physical activities
- Understand the importance of physical fitness and daily physical activity
- Development of lifetime sports and leisure time activities
- Integrate cross-curricular strands into the physical education curriculum, to enhance reading, writing and math skills
